BBAU Imposes ₹2,000 Fine for Stunts and Overspeeding on Campus

New Student Discipline Rules from April; Helmet Mandatory and Strict Monitoring in Place

Campus Times | Lucknow

In a move to improve campus safety, Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University (BBAU) has announced a ₹2,000 fine for students caught performing stunts, overspeeding, or riding without helmets inside the campus. The decision comes after authorities noticed an increase in risky driving activities that could endanger students and pedestrians.

University Chief Proctor Prof. Ram Chandra has issued instructions to all departments, directors, and coordinators to inform students about the new rules and ensure strict compliance.

According to the administration, some students have been practicing bike and scooter riding in an unauthorized manner within the campus, which has already led to several minor accidents and safety concerns.

Activities Now Strictly Prohibited

The university has clearly banned several activities on campus, including:

  • Vehicle training inside the campus
  • Overspeeding on university roads
  • Carrying more passengers than allowed
  • Driving without a helmet or seat belt
  • Performing stunts or riding in the wrong direction

Students violating these rules may face a fine of ₹2,000 along with disciplinary action.

New Student Code of Conduct from April

BBAU is also preparing to implement revised Student Discipline and Conduct Rules 2026 from April, aimed at strengthening campus discipline and ensuring a safer environment for everyone.

Stronger and Transparent Discipline System

Chief Proctor Prof. Ram Chandra stated that earlier, disciplinary actions taken by departments sometimes did not reach the Proctor’s office, creating complications during no-dues clearance.

Under the new system:

  • Departments must report disciplinary actions to the Proctor’s office.
  • A Proctorial Board member will join departmental discipline committees to ensure transparency.
  • Students will need Proctor’s approval during the no-dues process.
  • The Proctor will have authority to suspend students for up to one week, with proper records maintained.

Fee Deadline Extended

Meanwhile, BBAU has also extended the last date for fee submission through the Samarth portal to March 20. The extension was approved by the Vice-Chancellor and formally issued by the Registrar.

With stricter rules and monitoring in place, the university aims to promote responsible behavior and make the campus safer for students and staff.
