UP Super TET Notification 2026: after UPTET results, 13 lakh qualified candidates eye 60,000 Teacher Vacancies

With the Uttar Pradesh government having already announced a large-scale recruitment drive, aspirants are now waiting for clarity on the Super TET schedule, eligibility criteria and revised examination pattern.

The wait for teacher recruitment in Uttar Pradesh could soon enter its final phase as more than 13 lakh candidates who have cleared the recently announced Uttar Pradesh Teacher Eligibility Test (UPTET) results are now looking ahead to the Super TET recruitment examination.

The state government has already announced plans to recruit around 60,000 teachers, raising expectations among candidates who have been waiting for a fresh recruitment drive for nearly six years. The Super TET examination, which serves as a recruitment test for assistant teachers in government primary and upper-primary schools, was last conducted in 2019.

With the Assembly elections approaching, speculation is growing that the recruitment notification could be issued before the election schedule is announced. However, candidates will have to wait for the official notification for confirmation of the dates, vacancies and examination structure.

What is Super TET?

Unlike UPTET, which is primarily an eligibility test, Super TET is a recruitment examination for teaching posts in government schools in Uttar Pradesh.

Candidates who meet the prescribed educational qualifications and have cleared the required TET examination can apply for the recruitment process. The examination covers teaching positions at both the primary level (Classes 1 to 5) and upper-primary/junior level (Classes 6 to 8).

The final selection is made on the basis of the recruitment rules and criteria notified by the Uttar Pradesh government.

Primary Teacher Eligibility: Classes 1 to 5

Candidates aspiring to become primary teachers generally need to fulfil the following academic requirements:

At least 50% marks in Class 12.

A two-year Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed) or equivalent BTC qualification.

Qualification in CTET Paper 1 or UPTET.

Candidates holding only a B.Ed qualification are not eligible for primary-level recruitment under the criteria referred to in the existing recruitment framework.

Junior teacher eligibility: Classes 6 to 8

For teaching positions at the junior or upper-primary level, candidates are required to meet higher academic qualifications. These include:

A graduation degree from a recognised institution.

A two-year D.El.Ed qualification, where applicable under the recruitment rules.

Candidates with graduation and a B.Ed degree with at least 50% marks may also be eligible under the prescribed criteria.

Qualification in CTET Paper 2 or UPTET Paper 2.

Candidates should note that the final eligibility conditions will be determined by the official recruitment notification.

Super TET exam pattern: what could change?

The examination pattern could see changes in the upcoming recruitment cycle. In the previous format, Super TET was conducted for 150 marks. Reports indicate that the new examination may be structured around 120 questions carrying a total of 360 marks, with each question carrying three marks.

A key change under the proposed pattern could be the introduction of negative marking. However, these details have not yet been officially confirmed and candidates should rely on the recruitment notification for the final pattern.

The 2019 examination had a minimum qualifying benchmark of around 45% for the relevant category of candidates. Given the large number of UPTET-qualified aspirants expected to compete for a limited number of posts, the effective selection cut-off could be considerably higher.

Subjects likely to remain part of the exam

The broad subject areas are expected to continue covering topics relevant to teaching aptitude and general awareness. These may include:

Language

Mathematics

Environmental Studies (EVS)

Current Affairs

Reasoning

Computer Knowledge

The number of questions or marks assigned to individual sections could, however, be revised if the new examination structure is implemented.

When will the UP Super TET notification be released?

The notification date has not been officially confirmed yet. Aspirants are expecting the recruitment announcement soon, particularly after the completion of the latest UPTET cycle and the governments earlier announcement regarding approximately 60,000 teacher vacancies.

Once the notification is released, it is expected to provide complete details about vacancy-wise posts, eligibility, application dates, syllabus, examination pattern, reservation rules, selection process and important deadlines.

For candidates who have recently cleared UPTET, the next step is therefore to begin focused preparation for the recruitment examination rather than waiting for the notification to start studying. Since the competition is expected to be intense, candidates should keep their documents ready, revise the core subjects and closely monitor official updates from the Uttar Pradesh education authorities.
