Professor Rajeev Manohar of University of Lucknow has been appointed as the Vice-Chancellor of Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee University, marking a significant milestone in his distinguished academic career.

To celebrate this achievement, a grand felicitation ceremony was held on March 17, 2026, at the Teachers’ Club under the joint aegis of the Lucknow University Teachers’ Club and the Teacher Association. Faculty members from across departments, including deans, heads, and senior professors, gathered in large numbers to honour him.

Prof. Manohar, a senior faculty member in the Department of Physics, will serve a three-year term as Vice-Chancellor. He previously led the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), during which the university secured the prestigious NAAC A++ accreditation. With over three decades of academic experience, he is renowned for his research in condensed matter physics, particularly in liquid crystals and nanomaterials, and has published more than 400 research papers.

Following the ceremony, new office bearers of the Teachers’ Club were elected unanimously. Professor Atul Srivastava was chosen as President, Dr. Vineet Kumar Verma as Secretary, Professor Mahendra Agnihotri as Vice-President, and Professor Rajendra Verma as Treasurer.

Prof. Manohar’s appointment is being seen as a major boost to academic leadership and research excellence at Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee University, Ranchi.
