Adding another feather to its cap, Lucknow Public School (C.P. Singh Foundation), Sector I has once again made the city proud as its distinguished alumnus Aditya Hriday Upadhyay (Batch 2017) secured an impressive All India Rank 154 in the Civil Services Examination 2025.

Currently serving in the Indian Revenue Service (Income Tax) and undergoing training at the National Academy of Direct Taxes, Aditya’s achievement reflects not only his perseverance but also the strong academic and moral foundation built during his school years at LPS Sector I.

Currently serving in the Indian Revenue Service, Aditya’s journey reflects perseverance, clarity of purpose, and disciplined execution. This marks his fourth attempt, while he has already been selected twice earlier in prestigious services, showcasing remarkable consistency.

A proud alumnus of Lucknow Public School (C.P. Singh Foundation), Sector I, Aditya completed his schooling from Class IV to XII (2017 batch). He credits his school for building the foundation of his discipline, thought process, and resilience.

“Whatever I am today, the base was created in my school,” he shared, expressing deep gratitude towards his teachers and mentors.

IIT Roorkee Gold Medalist Journey

After excelling academically in school, Aditya pursued Civil Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee, where he graduated in 2021 as a Department Gold Medalist and Institute Silver Medalist—a testament to his academic brilliance.

Smart Strategy

Driven by a strong desire for public service and leadership, he began preparing for civil services during the COVID-19 period and appeared for his first attempt in 2022.

Over time, he refined his strategy by focusing on answer writing, mastering the syllabus, and analyzing previous year questions, which proved crucial in improving his performance.

Challenges Faced during preparation

Aditya highlighted that the biggest challenges during preparation were self-doubt, the vast syllabus, and the subjective nature of the exam.

He overcame these through consistent practice, guidance from toppers, and maintaining a balanced lifestyle that included sports, reading, and family time.

Family Background and Support

Coming from a distinguished family, his father is an advocate at the Allahabad High Court (Lucknow Bench), his mother is a teacher, and his sister is also a law graduate who cleared the examination this year—making it a truly proud moment for the family.

Inspired by Sports Icons

Inspired by achievers across fields, including sports icons like Virat Kohli and Novak Djokovic, Aditya emphasized the importance of discipline and consistency in achieving success.

Eyes Set on IAS Goal

While he expressed satisfaction with his current role in the Indian Revenue Service, his ultimate goal remains the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), and he plans to attempt the exam once more.
