Lucknow University Introduces Stricter Hostel Allotment Rules Alongside New-Age Courses in AI and Cyber Security

Campus Times | Lucknow

With a fresh push to improve campus life and stay aligned with modern academic trends, Lucknow University has introduced stricter hostel allotment rules along with new courses in Artificial Intelligence and Cyber Security for the upcoming academic session, aiming to enhance student discipline while equipping them with industry-relevant skills.

75% Attendance Mandatory

In a meeting held at Manthan Hall under the chairmanship of Vice-Chancellor J. P. Saini, it was decided that only students with at least 75% attendance will be given priority in hostel allotment. Additionally, students who are residents of Lucknow will not be eligible for hostel accommodation under any circumstances. The meeting was attended by key officials including Dean of Student Welfare R. N. Upadhyay and Chief Proctor Anup Kumar Singh.

Better Hostel Management

The university administration emphasized improving hostel facilities and ensuring smooth functioning. Instructions were issued to maintain proper sanitation, room conditions, and food quality. Due to a shortage of cooking gas, alternative arrangements such as wood and coal are currently being used to ensure uninterrupted meal services for students.

Strict Monitoring and Staff Accountability

Taking a firm stance on discipline, the Vice-Chancellor directed that negligence by hostel staff will not be tolerated. Employees found absent without notice or failing in their duties will face immediate action and notices. Provosts and assistant provosts have been instructed to regularly monitor hostel conditions and stay actively involved.

AI and Cyber Security Courses

Keeping pace with evolving technology trends, Lucknow University will introduce two new undergraduate courses—“AI for All” and “Cyber Security”—from the 2026–27 academic session. The decision was taken in preparation for the upcoming Academic Council meeting scheduled for March 28.

MSc Molecular Biology

In addition to new courses, the university is also planning to restart the MSc Molecular Biology program, which had been discontinued earlier. Discussions were also held on amendments to PhD ordinances and consultancy rules, with final approvals expected soon.

Modern and Disciplined Campus

These decisions reflect Lucknow University’s commitment to enhancing both academic quality and student living standards, ensuring a more disciplined, safe, and future-ready campus environment.
