The Uttar Pradesh government is taking a major step towards preparing youth for employment by providing better skill training. Now is set to open over 40 new Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) in the 2026–27 academic session, adding nearly 16,000 seats across the state.

The initiative aims to equip youth with job-oriented skills and expand access to vocational education. Officials confirmed that more than 28 new ITIs have already been constructed, while over 15 incomplete institutes have now been completed—paving the way for a large-scale rollout in the upcoming session.

Dr. Hari Om, Speak Out

Principal Secretary of the Vocational Education Department, Dr. Hari Om, stated that each ITI will offer around 400 seats, significantly increasing training capacity and improving employability prospects for young aspirants.

To align with modern industry demands, over 200 ITIs have been upgraded in collaboration with Tata, with advanced machinery and updated infrastructure to deliver cutting-edge technical training.

Districts to Benefit

The new ITIs will be operational in multiple districts including Deoria, Ayodhya, Amroha, Kanpur Dehat, Agra, Sant Kabir Nagar, Prayagraj, Maharajganj, Gautam Buddh Nagar, Shahjahanpur, Firozabad, Hathras, Basti, Lakhimpur Kheri, Siddharthnagar, Shravasti, Etawah, Pratapgarh, Chandauli, and Auraiya.

Recruitment Drive Begins

Alongside infrastructure expansion, the government has initiated recruitment for key positions. Around 28 principals, 28 vice-principals, and 720 instructors will be appointed, along with supporting staff such as workshop assistants and clerical personnel.

With this dual focus on infrastructure and staffing, the state is positioning itself to create a stronger, industry-ready workforce for the future.
