Hindu Nav Varsh Mahotsav at BBAU Showcases India’s Timeless Knowledge Tradition

Spiritual leaders and academicians emphasize “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam” and cultural revival at vibrant campus celebration

The campus buzzed with spiritual leaders, academicians, and thinkers engaging in meaningful discussions on Indian knowledge traditions and cultural relevance. The vibrant exchange of ideas reflected a blend of tradition and modern thought, as Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University hosted a grand Hindu Nav Varsh Mahotsav on March 19.
The event, jointly organized with Nav Varsh Chetna Samiti and Shyam Parivar, began with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp and floral tributes to Babasaheb and Vikramaditya, symbolizing the deep cultural roots of the occasion.
Spiritual Thought Meets Modern Relevance
Chief Guest Swami Shri Gyananand Ji Maharaj described “Hindu” not as a narrow identity but as a universal philosophy rooted in the idea of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam. He stressed that this worldview promotes harmony, coexistence, and global brotherhood, urging society to adopt values-driven living through environmental consciousness and social responsibility.
Indian Knowledge for a Changing World
Vice-Chancellor Prof. Raj Kumar Mittal highlighted how Indian philosophy offers solutions to modern challenges like stress, imbalance, and social divisions. He emphasized that the Hindu New Year is not merely a calendar event but a cultural continuum that connects generations and inspires nation-building aligned with the vision of a developed India by 2047.
MLC Shri Pawan Singh Chauhan echoed similar sentiments, underlining the relevance of Indian traditions in shaping ethical and purposeful lives. He also recalled the reformist contributions of Maharshi Dayanand Saraswati in promoting education and social awareness.
Cultural Revival and Community Efforts
Dr. Girish Gupta, President of Nav Varsh Chetna Samiti, spoke about the role of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh in reviving the celebration of Hindu Nav Varsh at a societal level. He highlighted ongoing efforts to instill cultural pride among youth and expand awareness of India’s heritage.
Documentary, Launches Add Impact
An insightful documentary on Indian traditions and the significance of Nav Varsh was screened, showcasing community initiatives and cultural outreach. The event also marked the launch of the annual publication “Nav Chaitanya Vande Mataram (Sardhashati Issue)” along with the official website of the organizing committee.
The Mahotsav saw enthusiastic participation from faculty members, university officials, and students, making it a meaningful blend of tradition, thought leadership, and cultural celebration on campus.
