The admission process for Kendriya Vidyalayas (KVs) for the academic session 2026-27 has officially begun, bringing relief and clarity for thousands of parents across India. The Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS) has started online registration for Balvatika and Class 1 admissions from March 20, through its official portal.

No Exam, Only Lottery: Fair & Hassle-Free Admissions

Class 1 admissions will be conducted through a transparent lottery system with no test or interview. Selected candidates must complete document verification and fee payment, while the fully online process ensures equal opportunity and a hassle-free experience for all applicants.

Who Can Apply?

Children aged between 6 and 8 years as of March 31 of the academic year are eligible to apply, with those born on April 1 also considered eligible. Additionally, Children with Special Needs (CWSN) are granted an age relaxation of up to two years.

How to Apply Online

  • Visit: kvsangathan.nic.in
  • Click on “New Registration”
  • Fill in child & parent details
  • Receive Login Code / Registration Number
  • Select up to 3 preferred Kendriya Vidyalayas
  • Upload documents & submit the form
  • Download and keep a printout for reference

Each Class 1 section comprises 40 seats :

Which are allocated as per government norms, including 25% (10 seats) reserved under the Right to Education (RTE) category, 15% (6 seats) for Scheduled Castes (SC), 7.5% (3 seats) for Scheduled Tribes (ST), and 27% (11 seats) for Other Backward Classes–Non-Creamy Layer (OBC-NCL).

Priority Categories

Admissions are also influenced by service priority, with preference given to children of:

  • Central Government employees
  • Armed Forces personnel
  • State Government employees
  • PSU and autonomous body staff
