Now, working technical staff in both government and private institutions will also be able to pursue engineering studies. The Board of Technical Education has decided to introduce a Diploma in Engineering (Working Professional) course for workers in all polytechnic institutes across the state. This new system will come into effect from the academic session 2026–27.
According to Board Secretary Dr. Santosh Kumar, a policy proposal in this regard has been approved at the government level. Under this initiative, workers will get opportunities to enroll in government, aided, and private polytechnic institutions. However, institutes must obtain approval from the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) to run the program.
The objective of this new system is to enhance the technical skills of workers in the industrial sector so that they can continue their jobs while gaining formal technical education.
What Makes This Initiative Unique?
This new model is designed especially for workers in the industrial and technical sectors, enabling them to continue earning while learning. With flexible class schedules and industry-focused eligibility, the scheme is expected to benefit thousands of professionals across the state.
