LU Brings Tough Exam Rules: CCTV Watch & Entrance Result Review

Students can now apply for entrance result re-evaluation; AI-backed vigilance, tighter security, and strict action against unfair means to reshape exams in Lucknow

Campus Times | Lucknow

In a significant move to modernize its examination system, Lucknow University has rolled out a series of student-focused reforms aimed at ensuring transparency, accountability, and fairness. The decisions were approved during a high-level Examination Committee meeting chaired by Vice-Chancellor Prof. Alok Kumar Rai.

One of the biggest highlights is that students will now be able to apply for re-evaluation of entrance exam results by paying a nominal fee of ₹300—marking a major shift toward greater academic transparency.

Stricter Surveillance & Transparent Evaluation

To curb malpractice, Lucknow University has made CCTV surveillance mandatory for all entrance exams, with recordings stored for three months. The definition of cheating has been widened to include the use of mobile phones, Bluetooth devices, and any electronic gadgets, along with seeking outside help. Evaluation standards have also been strengthened—answer sheets will be checked by at least five evaluators, and official answer keys will be released for greater transparency. Meanwhile, security at exam centres has been tightened, allowing only authorized personnel entry, with invigilators empowered to frisk candidates and flying squads conducting surprise inspections.

Zero Tolerance on Mass Cheating

Taking a firm stand, the university has approved strict penalties against mass cheating. Exam centers found guilty may face blacklisting or cancellation, while serious cases could lead to FIRs and legal action.

Smarter Exam Centers with New Checklist

A revamped checklist has also been introduced:

  • Dedicated chief and assistant invigilators for every paper
  • Secure online system for question paper distribution
  • Clearly defined roles for exam staff
  • Presence of technical experts at centers
  • Entry restricted to registered candidates only

With these reforms, Lucknow University is taking a decisive step toward tech-driven, transparent, and student-friendly examinations, setting a new benchmark for higher education institutions.
