In a major push to digitise grassroots welfare services, Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath will distribute smartphones and growth monitoring devices to Anganwadi workers and helpers on Monday.
The move is aimed at strengthening real-time monitoring of child nutrition and maternal health under the state’s Anganwadi network. Officials said appointment letters will also be handed over to newly selected workers, providing an employment boost alongside service expansion.
Under the initiative, smartphones will be provided in phases, with around 70,000 Anganwadi workers and assistants expected to be covered. The devices will enable digital data entry, faster reporting and improved tracking of beneficiaries.
To improve field-level health assessments, workers will also receive equipment such as stadiometers, infantometers and mother-child weighing scales. These tools are expected to enhance accuracy in monitoring growth and nutritional indicators among children.
The chief minister is also set to unveil a new design for Anganwadi centres, focusing on improved infrastructure and child-friendly facilities. Several centres and child development project offices across districts will be inaugurated as part of the programme.
Officials said the initiative is part of a broader effort to modernise the public health delivery system and ensure last-mile connectivity through technology-enabled services.
