Vice Chancellor Prof. Raj Kumar Mittal Proposes Hindi Cells, Bilingual Question Papers, and ‘Bhasha Ambassadors’

Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University organized the Quarterly Meeting of the Official Language Implementation Committee on May 15 under the aegis of the Hindi Cell, reaffirming its commitment to promoting Hindi in administration, academics, and campus communication.
The meeting was chaired by Vice Chancellor Raj Kumar Mittal in the presence of Registrar Ashwini Kumar Singh and Dr. Baljeet Kumar Shrivastava.
Bilingual Question Papers & Hindi Cells Proposed
Addressing faculty members and officials, Prof. Mittal emphasized that promoting Hindi should become a collective responsibility rather than just a formal process. He called for greater use of Hindi in official correspondence, drafting, and university administration.
Among the key proposals discussed were:
- Preparation of bilingual question papers
- Brochures and notices in Hindi
- Hindi names for campus residences and guest houses
- Encouraging staff and faculty to sign in Hindi
The Vice Chancellor also proposed establishing a “Hindi Translation and Interpretation Cell” and a “Hindi Publication Cell” to promote translation and publication of academic content in Hindi.
‘Bhasha Ambassadors’ and Hindi Workshops to Boost Language Usage
Prof. Mittal further suggested organizing 15-day Hindi proficiency workshops for students and employees. He also recommended appointing “Bhasha Ambassadors” from each department to encourage regular use of Hindi in departmental activities.
Departments were advised to create “Hindi Walls” displaying “Word of the Day” and other language-related information to build a vibrant Hindi-friendly environment on campus.
The meeting concluded with participation from Deans, Heads of Departments, faculty members, and university officials, reinforcing BBAU’s vision of strengthening Hindi as a medium of communication, education, and university culture.
