Lucknow, July 6: The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) on Monday urged Lucknow University to initiate a thorough inquiry into alleged financial and administrative irregularities at Shree Geet Law College, Itaunja, an affiliated college of the university.

Submitting a memorandum to Lucknow University Vice-Chancellor Prof. J. P. Saini, the ABVP alleged that students of Shree Geet Law College were being asked to pay money in the name of viva voce and practical examinations. The organisation also sought an impartial investigation into several academic and administrative issues allegedly prevailing at the college.

According to ABVP, its representatives first visited Shree Geet Law College to discuss the complaints with the college principal. However, the organisation claimed that the college administration did not respond positively to the concerns raised by students.

The ABVP delegation later met the Vice-Chancellor and submitted a memorandum containing six key demands. These include a comprehensive inquiry into the alleged collection of money in the name of viva and practical examinations at Shree Geet Law College, a fair investigation into academic and administrative irregularities, and strict administrative as well as legal action against those found responsible.

The memorandum further alleged that despite repeated irregularities, Shree Geet Law College has continued to function without adequate corrective action, adversely affecting the academic interests of students. The organisation urged the university administration to ensure transparency and accountability during the investigation.

Vice-Chancellor Prof. J. P. Saini assured the delegation that Lucknow University would conduct a fair inquiry and take appropriate action based on the findings.

ABVP Bakshi Ka Talab Convenor Ankit Pandey said educational institutions should be centres of learning and character building, not places where students are allegedly subjected to financial exploitation. He said the alleged collection of money from students in the name of viva and practical examinations at Shree Geet Law College is a serious matter and expressed hope that the university would complete a fair and time-bound inquiry.

He also stated that if justice is not delivered to students, ABVP would be compelled to launch a phased agitation.
