The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has launched its Parenting Calendar for the academic session 2026–27, marking a significant step toward strengthening collaboration between parents and schools while prioritising students’ overall well-being.
The initiative, unveiled during a live event streamed on CBSE’s official YouTube channel, saw participation from school principals, teachers, counsellors, wellness experts and parents from across the country. Building on the success of its 2025–26 edition, the updated calendar introduces a more structured and inclusive approach to parental engagement.
Expanding Beyond Traditional PTMs
The Parenting Calendar aims to transform the role of parents from occasional participants in Parent-Teacher Meetings (PTMs) to active contributors in their children’s emotional, social and academic development. In alignment with the National Education Policy 2020, the initiative seeks to create a consistent and meaningful partnership between families and educational institutions.
Focus on Mental Health and Digital Challenges
For the first time, CBSE has formally integrated contemporary concerns such as social media usage, gaming addiction, excessive screen time, anxiety and behavioural changes into the school engagement framework. Parents will receive structured guidance and training to help them identify early signs of distress and support their children effectively.
Age-Specific Design for Holistic Growth
The calendar has been carefully designed for students from nursery to Class 12, with tailored strategies for different age groups. Early education will focus on habit-building and emotional development, while senior classes will address career-related stress, board examinations and essential life skills.
New Additions: Inclusion and Adaptability
The 2026–27 edition also introduces dedicated sections on inclusive education to support diverse learners and a “coping with changes” module aimed at helping families adapt to evolving academic expectations and curriculum shifts.
Structured Engagement Through Workshops and Dialogue
To ensure consistent interaction, the framework includes regular workshops, support groups, open houses and parent-teacher dialogues. A key highlight is the adoption of the ‘4R’ principle—Reflection, Reinforcement, Relationship and Rejoicing—designed to strengthen family bonds and encourage positive parenting practices.
CBSE noted that the previous edition received strong participation nationwide, reinforcing the need for such structured engagement. With enhanced strategies and a sharper focus on psycho-social development, the Parenting Calendar 2026–27 is expected to play a crucial role in reshaping how schools and families work together for the holistic growth of students.
