In a significant move for management aspirants, Lucknow University has approved an additional 75 seats in its MBA programme for the upcoming academic session. The decision was taken during the Executive Council meeting chaired by Vice Chancellor Prof. J.P. Saini on Monday.

The newly approved intake will be offered through a separate MBA section under the self-financed scheme at the university’s main campus. The expansion is expected to create more opportunities for students seeking admission to one of the university’s flagship professional programmes.

The Executive Council also approved the academic calendar issued by the Uttar Pradesh government for the forthcoming session.

Computer science department set for faculty expansion

Alongside the MBA seat increase, the council gave in-principle approval for the creation of 15 new teaching positions in the Department of Computer Science. The proposed posts include two Associate Professors and 13 Assistant Professors.

The proposal has been forwarded to the Finance Committee for further consideration and approval before implementation.

The university also approved guidelines for the establishment of an Equal Opportunity Cell (EOC), aimed at ensuring equitable access and support for students from disadvantaged groups, including Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Other Backward Classes, minorities, women and persons with disabilities. The cell will comprise a chairperson and three members.

Additionally, the Executive Council sanctioned the formation of a Community Educational Development Cell (CEDC). The new body will focus on educational and developmental activities in adopted villages and urban slum areas, including digital literacy campaigns and life-skills education programmes. The CEDC will function under the guidance of a committee headed by the Vice-Chancellor.
