Admission season at Dr. Shakuntala Misra National Rehabilitation University has entered its final phase, with the university witnessing a sharp rise in applications ahead of the July 1 deadline for non CUET undergraduate, postgraduate, diploma and certificate programmes.

According to the university, around 4,058 applications have been received so far for the 2026-27 academic session. Several courses have attracted applications far exceeding the available seats, with some programmes recording five to seven applicants competing for a single seat.

LLM, BBA and B.Pharm among most competitive PG programmes

Competition is particularly intense in postgraduate courses. The LLM programme has received 125 applications for 22 seats, translating to nearly six candidates per seat.

The B.Ed Special Education programme has attracted 329 applications for 99 seats, while BBA has received 208 applications for 41 seats, with more than five applicants competing for each seat. Similarly, B.Pharm has recorded 177 applications for 33 seats, maintaining a comparable level of competition.

The MA in Sociology programme has received 148 applications for 44 seats, while programmes such as Social Work, Hindi, History and MCA have also witnessed applications well above the available intake. Meanwhile, the MBA programme has received 194 applications for 132 seats.

Overall, the university has received 2,023 applications for 1,051 postgraduate seats.

UG courses also witness strong demand

At the undergraduate level, the university has received 2,035 applications for 764 non CUET seats.

Among the most sought-after courses, the Bachelor of Prosthetics and Orthotics (BPO) programme has emerged as the most competitive, attracting 90 applications for just 13 seats, or nearly seven applicants per seat.

The BA programme has received the highest number of applications at 419 against 220 seats. Other popular programmes include B.Com with 171 applications for 66 seats, BSc (Computer Science & IT) with 157 applications for 33 seats, and B.Com LLB (Hons.) with 143 applications for 66 seats.

The university has also announced that the application process for CUET-based undergraduate programmes will begin on July 1. Vice Chancellor Prof. Sanjay Singh has urged aspiring students to complete their online applications before July 1, stating that no applications will be accepted after the deadline.
