As artificial intelligence (AI) becomes increasingly integrated into education, business, healthcare, and public services, the Government of India has rolled out a free online course to help citizens build a strong foundation in the technology.

The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) has launched the YUVA AI course under the India AI Mission, with the goal of providing basic AI literacy to 10 million people across the country. The self-paced programme is available through the Future Skills Prime and iGOT Karmayogi platforms and can be completed in approximately 4.5 hours.

Course focuses on AI basics, ethics and career opportunities

The course introduces participants to the fundamentals of artificial intelligence, explaining how AI works and how it is being used across different sectors in India. It also covers responsible AI practices, ethical considerations, and the growing role of AI in everyday life.

Learners will also gain insights into career opportunities in the AI ecosystem, making the programme useful for those looking to understand the technology before pursuing advanced learning or professional training.

The curriculum has been designed for beginners, allowing participants to complete the course without any prior technical knowledge or experience in AI.

Open to all

The YUVA AI course is open to school and college students, teachers, working professionals, entrepreneurs, homemakers, and anyone interested in learning about artificial intelligence. There are no eligibility restrictions or prerequisite qualifications.

Participants who successfully complete all course modules and assessments will receive an official certificate issued by the Government of India. The certificate can be included in resumes, CVs, and LinkedIn profiles to demonstrate foundational AI knowledge.

With AI skills becoming increasingly relevant across industries, the initiative offers an accessible opportunity for individuals to understand the technology and prepare for a rapidly evolving digital landscape at no cost.
