Demonstrating exceptional advocacy, legal research, and courtroom strategy, students from the Department of Law, School of Legal Studies, Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University (BBAU), Lucknow, delivered an impressive performance at the 1st Justice D.P. Gupta National Moot Court Competition, hosted by Babu Banarasi Das University (BBD University), Lucknow.

Competing against teams from leading law schools across India, the BBAU contingent secured the First Runner Up position after advancing through multiple competitive rounds with well-reasoned legal arguments and confident oral submissions. Their consistent performance throughout the tournament earned them a cash prize of Rs 31,000.

The University team comprised Aviral Dwivedi (Speaker-1), Sankalp Bhatt (Speaker-2), and Anushka Sharma (Researcher). Their collaborative preparation and command over complex legal issues enabled them to reach the final round, where they impressed an eminent panel of judges.

Adding to their success, the team was also honoured with the Best Memorial Award, a recognition reserved for the strongest written submissions in the competition. The award acknowledged the team excellence in legal drafting, research methodology, and the overall quality of its memorial, along with an additional cash prize of Rs 5,100.

The final round was adjudicated by Justice Shameem Ahmed of the Madras High Court and Justice Pramod Kumar Srivastava of the Allahabad High Court, while the valedictory ceremony featured distinguished jurists Justice Dinesh Maheshwari, former Judge of the Supreme Court of India and Chairman of the 23rd Law Commission of India, and Justice M. N. Bhandari, former Chief Justice of the Madras High Court and Chairman of the Appellate Tribunal under the SAFEMA Act.

Congratulating the students on their achievement, BBAU Vice Chancellor Prof. Raj Kumar Mittal described the accomplishment as a proud moment for the University and a reflection of its growing academic excellence in legal education. The success has also been celebrated by the Department of Law, with Head of the Department Prof. Sudarshan Verma and faculty members extending their congratulations to the team.
