The Samajwadi Chhatra Sabha on Monday submitted a memorandum to the Registrar of Lucknow University, raising concerns over what it described as disproportionately low internal assessment marks awarded to students enrolled in the Bachelor of Arts (BA) programme.

The student organisation claimed that a large number of BA students, despite maintaining regular attendance, submitting assignments on time, and appearing in all internal examinations, received marks significantly below expectations. According to the memorandum, the grading pattern has triggered widespread dissatisfaction among students, who fear that the low scores could adversely impact their overall results, percentage, eligibility for higher education, and prospects in competitive examinations.

In its representation, the student body demanded a comprehensive review of the internal assessment marks awarded to all BA students. It also urged the university administration to conduct a departmental inquiry into subjects where an unusually high number of students were awarded low marks. The organisation further requested that any discrepancies identified during the review be corrected and revised results issued without delay.

Emphasising the need for accountability, the Samajwadi Chhatra Sabha also called on the university to strengthen transparency and fairness in the internal evaluation process to prevent similar grievances in future academic sessions.

As the Vice-Chancellor was unavailable on campus, the memorandum was formally submitted to the Registrar. According to the student representatives, the Registrar assured them that the concerns raised by the students would be examined seriously and that appropriate directions would be issued to the concerned departments after due consideration.

Among those present during the submission of the memorandum were Rohit Yadav, student leader Aditya Pandey, Akshay Pradhan, Prasann Shukla, Mitthu, Ravi Nandan Yadav, Akshat Pandey, Prabhat Manav, Anadi Tiwari, Jatin Yadav, Avadhesh Singh, Shani, Sachin, Abhishek Yadav, Nalini Srivastava, Palak, Swati, Prerna, Katyayani, Garima, along with hundreds of other students.
