Tensions escalated at Lucknow University on Monday as hundreds of members of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) staged a protest against alleged irregularities in undergraduate second semester examination results and internal assessment marks.

The demonstrators surrounded the universitys administrative building, accusing the administration of mishandling evaluation and result processing. According to the student body, several students were awarded incorrect internal assessment marks, while others who had appeared for examinations were reportedly marked absent, raising concerns over the impact on their academic records.

After being stopped from entering the administrative building to meet officials, ABVP workers staged a sit-in and later carried out a symbolic lockout of the premises, demanding immediate correction of the discrepancies and accountability from the authorities.

The protest later shifted to the Department of Economics, where students sought intervention from the Head of the Department. Following discussions with the ABVP delegation, the department acknowledged errors in the evaluation process, expressed regret over the lapses, and assured that necessary corrections to the affected results would be completed by the same evening.

The ABVP also submitted a memorandum addressed to the Vice Chancellor through the Registrar, urging the university to resolve all pending result related grievances within a fixed timeline and establish a robust grievance redressal mechanism to prevent similar issues in the future.

Addressing the protesters, ABVP state secretary Arpan Kushwaha said recurring irregularities in the universitys examination system were unacceptable and warned that the organisation would continue its agitation until every affected student received justice.

University unit secretary Aryan Kushwaha said the protest was launched only after repeated attempts at dialogue failed to yield results. He added that the student body would closely monitor the implementation of the assurances given by the department.

ABVP member Arpita said, Students have been facing unnecessary hardship due to repeated errors in the evaluation process. Instead of focusing on their academic progress, they have been forced to visit departments and the examination section repeatedly to get their grievances heard. 

ABVP maintained that the demonstration was aimed at addressing systemic lapses rather than targeting any individual, while warning of a larger democratic agitation if the promised corrective measures are not implemented promptly.
