The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), under the Department of Space (DoS), has announced a fresh recruitment drive for a total of 746 vacancies, covering permanent appointments as well as apprenticeship opportunities. The hiring initiative is aimed at filling positions across engineering, scientific, administrative and technical streams.

Of the total openings, 336 are regular posts, while 410 vacancies are for apprenticeship training at the U R Rao Satellite Centre (URSC) in Bengaluru. The recruitment offers opportunities for engineering graduates, diploma holders and candidates seeking administrative roles within Indias premier space agency.

Among the permanent positions, Scientist, Engineer posts account for the largest share with 92 vacancies. Electronics engineers have the highest number of openings (34), followed by Mechanical (26) and Computer Science (13). Additional vacancies have been announced for Civil Engineering (10), Electrical Engineering (4), Refrigeration and Air Conditioning (2), Architecture (2), and one Civil Engineering post at the Physical Research Laboratory (PRL), Ahmedabad.

The recruitment campaign also includes 244 Level 4 administrative positions to be filled through the ISRO Centralised Recruitment Board. These comprise 113 Assistant posts, 81 Junior Personal Assistant positions, 22 Upper Division Clerk vacancies, 10 Stenographer posts, 17 Assistant positions for autonomous institutions, and one Junior Personal Assistant post for an autonomous institution.

Meanwhile, the 410 apprenticeship seats at URSC, Bengaluru, are open to graduate and diploma candidates. Selected apprentices will receive hands on training in a high technology environment along with a monthly stipend as per applicable norms.

While the latest recruitment drive offers a significant opportunity for aspirants looking to build a career in Indias space sector, reports indicate that the 336 permanent vacancies represent only a small portion of the organisations overall vacant positions, with a number of the advertised posts also reserved to clear long-pending backlog vacancies.
