The Indian Army has opened applications for the second edition of the Indian Army Internship Programme (IAIP) 2026–27, offering students and young professionals an opportunity to gain practical exposure to cutting edge defence technologies and research initiatives. The programme is designed to connect aspiring talent with real world defence innovation while providing mentorship from experienced Army officers and domain experts.

The internship will be conducted in New Delhi-NCR and will run for 75 days, including 60 days of on site training and project work followed by 15 days of work from home (WFH). Participants will contribute to live projects, allowing them to understand the operational and technological aspects of the defence sector.

Internship Domains

The programme covers a broad range of future focused and strategic disciplines, including:

• Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML)

• Cybersecurity and Ethical Hacking

• Quantum Computing and Cryptography

• Drones and Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs)

• Robotics and Autonomous Systems

• Space and Satellite Technologies

• Advanced Weapon Systems and Defence Electronics

• 5G/6G Communication Technologies

• Financial Technology (FinTech)

• Mass Communication and Media

Key Highlights

Eligible candidates may apply for multiple internship projects. However, if selected for more than one opportunity, they will be allowed to accept only one offer.

Interns who successfully complete the programme and meet all prescribed requirements will be eligible for a stipend of up to ₹75,000. The final payout will depend on attendance and fulfilment of programme guidelines.

Applicants should note that accommodation will not be provided by the Indian Army. Selected candidates will be responsible for arranging their own stay during the on-site component of the internship.

The Army has also clarified that the internship is intended purely as a learning and skill-development initiative. Completion of the programme will not guarantee employment or placement with the Indian Army.
