The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has released the provisional answer keys for the Combined Medical Services (CMS) Examination 2026, allowing candidates to verify their responses and calculate their probable scores. The answer keys for both Paper I (General Medicine and Paediatrics) and Paper II (Surgery, Gynaecology & Obstetrics, and Preventive & Social Medicine) are now available on the official UPSC website.

The UPSC CMS 2026 written examination was conducted on August 2, 2026, at various examination centres across the country. The recruitment drive aims to fill 1,359 vacancies in different government medical services.

Answer keys released for both papers

The Commission has uploaded the provisional answer keys for the following papers:

• Paper I: General Medicine and Paediatrics

• Paper II: Surgery, Gynaecology & Obstetrics, and Preventive & Social Medicine (PSM)

Candidates are advised to compare their responses with the official answer keys to assess their expected performance before the declaration of results.

Objection window open

UPSC has also invited representations against the provisional answer keys. Candidates who find any discrepancy in the published answers can submit objections through the designated online portal within the stipulated deadline. Objections will be accepted only through the UPSC Online portal.

The Commission has clarified that representations submitted via email, post, by hand, or any other offline mode will not be entertained. No objections will be accepted after the prescribed submission period.

Why the provisional answer Key matters

The release of the provisional answer key helps candidates:

• Verify their responses with the official answers.

Selection process

The UPSC Combined Medical Services recruitment process consists of two stages:
