Lucknow University, Dr RMLIMS Sign MoU to strengthen clinical training and research for physiotherapy students

BPT students to gain hands-on exposure across critical hospital departments, with training aligned to statutory standards

Lucknow University and Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia Institute of Medical Sciences (Dr RMLIMS) have entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to expand clinical training, interdisciplinary learning and research opportunities for students enrolled in the Bachelor of Physiotherapy (BPT) programme.

The agreement was signed on Saturday in the presence of Lucknow University Vice Chancellor Professor J.P. Saini. Representing Dr RMLIMS, Professor (Dr.) C.M. Singh, Director, and Dr. Varinder Singh Gogoi, Head of the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, signed the MoU. Lucknow University was represented by Registrar Dr. Bhavana Mishra and Professor Pushpendra Kumar Tripathi, Director, Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences.

Under the partnership, BPT students of Lucknow University will receive structured clinical exposure at Dr RMLIMS, allowing them to gain practical experience in a multidisciplinary hospital environment. Their training will cover key clinical areas including the Outpatient Department (OPD), Inpatient Department (IPD), Emergency Department, Intensive Care Unit (ICU), Orthopaedics, Neurology, Neurosurgery, General Medicine, General Surgery, Cardiology, Pulmonology, Paediatrics, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, as well as Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.

The clinical training programme will be conducted in accordance with the prescribed standards and norms of the Uttar Pradesh State Medical Faculty, the National Commission for Allied and Healthcare Professions (NCAHP), Government of India, and other applicable statutory bodies.

Professor (Dr.) C.M. Singh said the collaboration would provide a strong foundation for interdisciplinary education and joint research while ensuring that physiotherapy students receive meaningful and quality clinical exposure. He assured the university of the institutes continued support in facilitating effective clinical learning.

Lucknow University Registrar Dr. Bhavana Mishra expressed her gratitude to the Director and the team at Dr RMLIMS for extending their support towards the academic partnership. She said the collaboration would contribute significantly to strengthening practical learning opportunities for physiotherapy students.

Professor Pushpendra Kumar Tripathi, Director, Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences, said the MoU would create a valuable platform for students to acquire hands-on professional experience, explore research opportunities and develop a closer understanding of patient-centred healthcare delivery.

The collaboration is expected to bridge classroom-based learning with real-world clinical practice and expose students to a wide range of patient-care settings. It will also facilitate greater interaction between academic and healthcare professionals, creating opportunities for interdisciplinary learning and research.

The event was attended by Dr. Shaili Mahajan, Dr. Bhuvan Chandra Tiwari and other doctors and officials from Dr RMLIMS, along with Dr. Rohit Singh from Lucknow University.
