The National Scholarship for Post-Graduate Studies (NSPG) offers financial assistance to eligible students pursuing postgraduate education. The scholarship is intended to support meritorious students from economically weaker sections and help them meet the cost of higher studies.

Under the scheme, selected students pursuing an eligible postgraduate programme can receive ₹15,000 per month for 10 months in an academic year. The scholarship is available to students in the first year of their postgraduate course, subject to the prescribed eligibility conditions.

Who is eligible

Students seeking to apply for the National Scholarship for Post-Graduate Studies must meet the specified academic and eligibility requirements.

Applicants must:

• Be pursuing their first postgraduate degree.

• Have secured admission to the first year of a PG programme.

• Be below 30 years of age.

• Be enrolled in a regular, full-time postgraduate course.

• Pursue a course offered by a recognised institution.

• Not have already completed a postgraduate degree.

For students enrolled in an integrated programme, the scholarship benefit will be applicable only to the postgraduate component of the course.

How much financial assistance is available?

Selected beneficiaries will receive ₹15,000 per month. The financial support will be provided for 10 months in an academic year, subject to the applicable scholarship rules and verification process.

Application process

Eligible students need to submit their applications through the National Scholarship Portal (NSP). The broad application process includes registration, identity verification and submission of the scholarship form.

Applicants are required to:

1. Register on the National Scholarship Portal using their mobile number.

2. Complete mobile number verification through OTP.

3. Complete e-KYC, wherever required.

4. Finish the Aadhaar Face Authentication process.

5. Log in using the OTR number and password.

6. Fill in the scholarship application form with accurate academic and personal details.

7. Upload the required supporting documents.

8. Carefully review the application before submitting it finally.

Students should ensure that the details entered in the application match their official records to avoid issues during verification.

Documents Required For Application

Applicants may be required to provide documents supporting their academic qualifications, identity, admission and banking details. These include:

• Mark sheets and certificates from Class 9 onwards.

• Proof of admission or admission letter for the postgraduate programme.

• A valid identity document such as Aadhaar, Voter ID, Passport, PAN or Driving Licence.

• Bank account details.

• Two recent passport-size photographs.

Applicants should keep clear and valid copies of the required documents ready before beginning the application process.

How will applications be verified?

The NSPG scholarship application goes through a two-stage verification process.

First, the application is verified by the concerned educational institution. After institutional verification, it is examined by the respective State Higher Education Department or State Nodal Agency.

Only applications that successfully complete the prescribed verification process are considered for further processing under the scholarship scheme.
