The registration process for the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2027 is set to begin on August 27, 2026, giving aspirants an opportunity to complete their applications well ahead of the examination scheduled for February next year. IIT Madras will conduct GATE 2027, while applications will be submitted online through the GATE Online Application Processing System (GOAPS).

Candidates planning to appear for the examination should arrange the necessary documents and personal details before the application window opens. Having the required information and scanned documents ready can help applicants avoid last-minute issues during registration.

The regular application window is scheduled to remain open until September 27, 2026. The GATE 2027 examination will be conducted on February 6, 7, 13, 14, 20 and 21, 2027.

Documents to keep ready

Before starting the application, candidates should ensure that the required documents are available in the prescribed format. These include:

Recent passport-size photograph

Scanned signature

Valid photo identity proof, such as Aadhaar Card, PAN Card, Voter ID or Driving Licence

Category certificate, wherever applicable

PwD certificate, if applicable

Dyslexia certificate, where applicable

Details related to the qualifying examination and educational qualifications

Active mobile number and email ID

Information required to complete the application fee payment

Candidates should check the prescribed specifications for file size, format and image quality before uploading any document. Blurred or incorrectly formatted files may create problems during the application process.

Personal and academic details required

Apart from uploading documents, applicants will need to enter their personal and educational information in the application form. Candidates should keep details such as their name, date of birth, contact information and qualifying examination details readily available.

It is important that the information entered in the application form is consistent with the candidates official records. Any mismatch could lead to complications during subsequent stages of the examination process.

Check two-paper options before registration

Candidates intending to appear for two GATE papers should review the available two-paper combinations before submitting their choices. Applicants should also familiarise themselves with the applicable DigiLocker requirements, particularly where document-related processes are involved for Indian nationals.

With the registration window opening shortly, aspirants are advised not to wait until the deadline to begin the application. Preparing the documents and required information in advance can make the registration process faster and reduce the chances of errors.

Candidates should rely on the official GATE 2027 information and application portal for the final eligibility criteria, document specifications, fee details and other instructions before submitting the form.
