Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University (BBAU), Lucknow, stepped up preparations for its 11th Convocation Ceremony-2026 with a full-dress rehearsal held on Thursday, August 27, on the university campus. The rehearsal was presided over by Vice Chancellor Prof. Raj Kumar Mittal, who conducted a detailed inspection of the arrangements and issued necessary directions to ensure the smooth, dignified and disciplined conduct of the main ceremony.

The 11th Convocation of BBAU is scheduled to be held on August 29, 2026, with Defence Minister Rajnath Singh attending as the Chief Guest. The ceremony will celebrate the academic achievements of students graduating in the academic years 2023, 2024, 2025 and 2026.

During the rehearsal, Vice Chancellor Prof. Raj Kumar Mittal, Registrar Dr. Ashwini Kumar Singh and Controller of Examinations (COE) Prof. Vikram Singh Yadav reviewed key arrangements, including student entry and exit, seating plans, stage proceedings, degree and medal distribution, discipline, protocol and coordination among different teams.

Students took part in the rehearsal with enthusiasm and discipline, following the procedures that will be adopted during the main ceremony. They practised taking their designated seats, moving towards the stage in an orderly manner, receiving degrees and medals and returning through the designated route.

The rehearsal also focused on synchronising stage proceedings with different segments of the convocation to minimise delays and ensure that the ceremony proceeds according to the prescribed schedule.

During his inspection, Prof. Mittal directed the concerned officials and teams to ensure that students, parents, guests and other participants do not face any inconvenience. He also stressed strict adherence to protocol and timelines, with all arrangements to be completed in a coordinated and systematic manner.

According to the university, a total of 8,551 students, including backlog candidates, will be awarded degrees during the convocation, while meritorious students will be honoured with gold medals and other awards in recognition of their outstanding academic performance.
