Dr Shakuntala Misra National Rehabilitation University (DSMNRU) has opened admissions against 109 vacant seats under the sports quota for the academic session 2026-27, providing an opportunity for eligible national and international-level sportspersons to pursue higher education alongside their sporting careers.

Eligible candidates can submit their applications along with the required sports certificates and supporting documents until September 7 at Room No. 207(A) on the university campus. Admissions will be processed after scrutiny and verification of the applications and sports credentials as per the prescribed norms.

According to Prof. Anamika Chaudhary, Director of Admissions, the vacant seats are spread across a wide range of undergraduate, postgraduate and professional programmes. The largest share is in B.Tech, which has 24 vacant seats, followed by 20 seats in B.A. under the 2025 NEP structure.

Other undergraduate vacancies include six seats in B.Com, three each in BBA and BCSIT, nine in B.Sc, two in BVA and one in CCICVM. At the postgraduate level, one seat each is available in M.Tech (AIDS) and M.Tech (AIML).

The university has also reported vacancies across several M.A. disciplines, including Economics, Education, Hindi, Political Science, Sociology, English and History, with two seats available in each. MBA has six vacant seats, while MCA, M.Com, M.Sc IT, Chemistry, Microbiology, Physics and Statistics have two seats each.

In the visual arts stream, one seat each is available in MVA Applied Arts and MVA Painting, while three seats are vacant in PDCD.

The university administration said the sports quota is intended to provide talented athletes with an opportunity to continue their academic pursuits without having to compromise on their sporting ambitions.

University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Sanjay Singh said DSMNRU is committed to creating an environment where students can pursue academics while receiving opportunities and facilities to develop their sporting abilities.
