Recognising that personal safety education should begin at an early age, Delhi Public School, Eldeco, Lucknow organised a POCSO awareness workshop for its pre-primary students to help them understand body safety, personal boundaries, and the importance of seeking help from trusted adults.
Held under the guidance of Principal Ms. Gunjan Sahni, the workshop was thoughtfully designed to suit the learning needs of young children. The session used interactive storytelling, engaging activities, visual aids, and child-friendly discussions to introduce essential concepts related to personal safety in a sensitive and reassuring manner.
The programme focused on helping children distinguish between appropriate and inappropriate behaviour, recognise situations that may make them feel uncomfortable, and understand that they have the right to protect their personal space. Students were encouraged to confidently express their feelings, say No when necessary, and immediately approach trusted adults—including parents, teachers, or caregivers—if they ever felt unsafe or worried.
Along with emphasising self-protection, the workshop also highlighted the importance of respecting the personal boundaries of others, reinforcing values of empathy, consent, and mutual respect from an early age. The facilitators ensured that the discussions remained positive, age-appropriate, and free from fear, creating a comfortable environment where children could actively participate and ask questions.
