Delhi Public School, Eldeco hosted a vibrant Model United Nations (MUN) conference, bringing together 457 delegates from 34 schools for an immersive exercise in diplomacy, debate and global affairs.

The conference provided students with an opportunity to represent different countries and deliberate on contemporary international issues through committee discussions, moderated and unmoderated caucuses, negotiations and resolution-building. The proceedings encouraged participants to move beyond prepared arguments and engage with diverse viewpoints while working towards consensus.

The event was graced by Chief Guest Jayant Krishna, former Director, AFS India Board, whose presence added significance to the conference and encouraged students to approach global issues with curiosity and responsibility.

Gunjan Sahni, Principal, Delhi Public School, Eldeco, guided and encouraged the participants, highlighting the importance of nurturing informed and globally conscious young citizens.

With delegates representing a wide range of schools and perspectives, the conference fostered healthy competition alongside meaningful peer learning. Students demonstrated extensive research, confident public speaking and an understanding of the political, economic, social and humanitarian dimensions of the issues assigned to them.

A key focus of the MUN was collaborative problem-solving. Delegates were encouraged to negotiate, accommodate differing positions and identify practical solutions rather than merely defend their assigned national stances. The experience offered students a practical understanding of how diplomacy relies on dialogue, flexibility and consensus.

The conference also strengthened skills such as critical thinking, research, leadership, negotiation, teamwork and effective communication. For many participants, the platform provided an opportunity to overcome hesitation, articulate ideas before an audience and gain confidence in engaging with complex subjects.

The successful participation of 34 schools and 457 delegates underscored the growing interest in experiential learning and international affairs among school students. The conference concluded with delegates carrying forward not only the competitive experience of MUN but also a deeper appreciation of diverse perspectives, constructive dialogue and responsible global citizenship.
