The 79th Inter-Martiniere Meet witnessed an action-packed Swimming Championship on August 24, 2026, as swimmers from La Martiniere Girls College, Lucknow and La Martinière for Girls, Kolkata battled it out across a range of competitive events.

The championship brought together young swimmers in the Under-12, Under-14, Under-17 and Under-19 categories, with athletes competing in Freestyle, Breaststroke, Backstroke, Butterfly, Endurance and Relay events. The day saw a strong display of speed, technique, stamina and teamwork, reflecting the competitive spirit associated with the Inter-Martiniere Meet.

The event was graced by Chief Guest Mrs Afshan Khan, an accomplished educationist and alumna of La Martiniere Girls College, Lucknow. A former Vice Captain of Cornwallis House, Khan has a strong association with the institutions sporting legacy. She represented La Martiniere Girls College, Lucknow in swimming at the Inter-Martiniere Meet in 1978.

Among the notable performers was Lucknows Abha Pokhrel, who produced an impressive showing in the Under-12 category. She set new records in both the 25m Freestyle and 25m Backstroke. Her 15.81-second finish in the 25m Freestyle eclipsed the earlier mark of 19.07 seconds, while her 19.66-second timing in the 25m Backstroke bettered the previous record of 22.35 seconds. She also put up a strong performance in the 50m Butterfly, underlining her versatility across strokes.

Rianna Jessica Dass was another standout for the Lucknow contingent, displaying consistency across multiple Under-14 events. She secured second place in the Backstroke and finished third in both Freestyle and Butterfly, adding valuable performances to her teams campaign.

The 4x25m Medley Relay provided another highlight of the championship, with La Martiniere Girls College, Lucknow emerging victorious. The winning performance reflected the squads coordination, discipline and team spirit.

At the end of the competition, La Martinière for Girls, Kolkata secured the overall honours, winning the Swimming, Endurance and Relay Cup. Kolkata finished with 306 points against Lucknows 194, bringing an engaging day of competition to a decisive close.
